A coming-of-age film that goes out of its way to subvert genre expectations, this thrillingly complex portrait of childhood was shot by Christopher Nolan collaborator Hoyt van Hoytema. Blanca Engström is an astonishing find, a 10-year-old lead who refuses to be defined by the limitations of her age.
