A troubled artist family has a summer party that starts like any other Finnish party with boozing, going crazy and having fights. Then it develops into a more sinister story that keeps up the suspense rather well although it’s clear from early on what’s going to happen. Visually it’s a mixture of music video aesthetics and (semi)realistic cinema, and they work nicely together.
TIFF wisely programmed this in the discovery section last year and what a discovery Bergroth's second feature is. Dynamite script (at least for the first three quarters) about a son's relationship or lack thereof with his infamous actress mother who has just brought yet another man into their familial situation. The son has become caretaker, maid and bodyguard to his mother when all he really wants is her love.
