Our take

This drifting journey from Communist Poland to New York via West Berlin, driven by the ideals of the American Dream, is a neorealist and poetic portrait of European disenchantment. Filmed in 1988 just before the fall of the Wall, Michael Klier’s film presents a search for hope in a city of ruins.
