Ratings & Reviews

  1. Diderot's rating of the film The Green Pastures

"Let there be a whole mess of firmament!" John Waters is right: this movie is shocking! I was enthralled from beginning to end.

  2. msmichel's rating of the film The Green Pastures

Strange curio from 1936 adapting Marc Connelly's fable of bibilical stories told from a perspective of the deep south. An all black cast retells the stories of eden, Kane & Abel, Moses and more that has 'da lawd' looking down and circumventing with his children. Hard to put in the context of the time it was made and often seems stereotypical and rascist, though certainly not the filmmaker's intent..
