Winslet is lovely as ever in a total bore of a film. Black tries injecting comedy but mostly falls flat. Law and Diaz are abysmal and drag the film further down the shitter the longer they are onscreen. Only real bright spots in this humdrum affair are Eli Wallach's every moment onscreen, and Hoffman providing a cameo. Avoid if possible. I give it an extra star, bc at least it isnt as terrible as most in the genre.
Second favourite to Love Actually. So sad I only watched it this Christmas. The stars are for the acting and the simple, sweet storytelling and narratives. I actually started liking Cameron Diaz after 10 years of being extremely skeptical about her. Yep, this is one movie where you don't want to literally kill her in every scene. Two simple (but way too complicated) stories, with two lovely happy endings!
