Ratings & Reviews

  1. Alexandria's rating of the film The Horse's Mouth

    A masterpiece, a must watch.

  2. 張大智's rating of the film The Horse's Mouth

A good hearted comedy about an eccentric old artist in search of his true creative vision. Its got a lot of good laughs, and Guinness is completely believable as a painter who lives in incantation with the subjects that inspire his art. Maybe some aspects of it prevent it from being truly timeless, but it is still a fairly sharp viewing that elegantly fuses the two essential elements of comedy; misery and humor.

  3. Landen Celano's rating of the film The Horse's Mouth

Enjoyable for what it is – a humorous portrait of the rebirth of an artist – but lacks the timeless qualities of a classic.

  4. Daniel S.'s rating of the film The Horse's Mouth

Alec Guinness is an actor to re-evaluate. He's the British Marlon Brando of the 50's. Less sexy I suppose but a lot funnier. Highly recommended.

  5. Roscoe's rating of the film The Horse's Mouth

The movie is okay, a light comedy with some ideas about art, but the novel by Joyce Cary is a great avanlanche of beauty, one that the movie just can't come near approaching.

  6. dBainy's rating of the film The Horse's Mouth

was a good portrait of the artist mentality. guinness did a good job.

  7. Phil Worfel's rating of the film The Horse's Mouth

I could not have been more surprised at how outrageously hilarious, inexplicably insane, and heartbreakingly poignant this film was. It's rare anymore that a film immediately becomes an all time favorite but this truly is one. Guinness is perfect and his script (Guinness wrote the script!!) is an absolute knockout. Please watch this immediately!

  8. Brighid McCarthy's rating of the film The Horse's Mouth

It is difficula to review this film as there appears to be some form of censorship that won't allow us to rent a film. We are Irish Nationals leaving in Taiwan which is an open society and not a province of China. What is the problem?
