  1. João Rocha's rating of the film The House of Sand

Amazing cinematography. In fact is this and the performances who made the movie. The plot is sometimes weak, and confusing (fernandas playing several roles doesn't help), but watching this was pure delight.

  6. ramosbarajas's rating of the film The House of Sand

The cinematography is so good. Obviously, with a film like this one, the setting is vital, and the photography guarantees that. I felt the story was somewhat weak. The fact that the actresses played several roles was confusing for a bit. Overall it's a strong film. It's a good example of mood and setting.

  7. Cassandra Tavukciyan's rating of the film The House of Sand

sensuous textures and hypnotic rhythms, bleak and gorgeous desert setting, a moving mother and daughter tale.

  8. mad.lucas's rating of the film The House of Sand

A truly poetic brazilian avant-feminist movie, with two of the greatest brazilian actors of this era - Fernanda Torres and her mother Fernanda Montenegro - shooted at Lençóis Maranhenses, known as one of the most beautiful and enigmatic places around the globe. 5 shiny golden stars.

  9. Joel's rating of the film The House of Sand

Quite beautiful. The texture of each shot really drew me in. Slow moving, but full of visual beauty that makes each moment worth it. I'm a sucker for desert movies. Who would recognize Sue Jorge?!
