  1. dionysus67's rating of the film The Iceman Cometh

Astonishing 4-hour transfer onto the screen of O'Neill's play, this marathon of decaying will among social zombies takes place in a single setting divided by a curtain. Yet, Frankenheimer' odious hoi polloi -led by a marvellous Lee Marvin- lifts the film to unprecedented heights of engagement, delivering a superb treatise on the (useless) 'fictions' that torment countless lives as they resign to the Grim Reaper.

  2. Erik F.'s rating of the film The Iceman Cometh

3.5 stars. Lee Marvin is a force of nature as Hickey.

  3. J.J. 'Jake' Gittes's rating of the film The Iceman Cometh

I came from the book (Eugene O'Neill, 1946) to this movie. There is another film version available (with Jason Robards, Robert Redford; 1960). But how can you beat Lee Marvin, Frederich March, Robert Ryan, Jeff Bridges .. The book is very intense; but the film, puh, even more. Theodore "Hickey" Hickman, unbelievable how Lee Marvin gets out the utmost out of this character. Not easy stuff; but very worthwile to watch.

  4. Howard Orr's rating of the film The Iceman Cometh

Excellent. Robert Ryan gives a stand-out performance in this one.
