This is the second viewing. In my opinion, THE IDES OF MARCH succeed to capture the dark side of politics. Especially - American politics. Honestly, I just knew a little about their political systems. To me, it wasn't hard to understand the political terms in this movie. THE IDES OF MARCH is exciting, thrilling, and well-written. Actor/Director George Clooney made this movie with a solid direction. A very good movie.
A really great, superb cast; fine acting performances in every role. The story is average; nothing new, predictable. Actually the story-framework is politics & politicians, but in real terms it's about sex, betrayal, morality & other human shortcomings. Even Julius Caesar didn't see the imminent desaster...
George Clooney directs and costars another great political film that goes behind the scenes of tough politics. When I saw this film, I don't know which actor is better in this film. Ryan Gosling gives a good performance as an idealistic man who finds out the hard way how it works with his job. Clooney is mind-blowing as the presidential candidate and Paul Giamatti and Phillip Seymour Hoffman are great as well
Sometimes clever but pedestrian mostly peak behind the curtain of american primaries. Clooney's work behind the camera quite good with some very well manipulated craftsmen to tell his tale. Ryan Gosling offers another top notch potrayal after "Drive" well supported by game cast especially Giamatti, Wood and Hoffman. Not up to par with "Good Night and Good luck" but certainly better than "Leatherheads" (what isn't)
