Ratings & Reviews

  1. Cat Mai's rating of the film The Idol

The opening was nice, but then it trailed off into quite of a melodramatic, corny, unbelievable tale. Well I get that this is based on a true story, so some plot development is left out. It was okay overall.

  2. zubee's rating of the film The Idol

The beginning is too slow and banal but the singing and music is good. The movie story takes off after he gets motivated for Ciaro, but it's hard to ignore that because he was from Gaza he succeeded.

  3. Loz Loory's rating of the film The Idol

Abu-Assad has a great talent for eliciting excellent performances out of the entire cast. Though I didn't find "The Mountains Between Us" to be half as emotionally heartfelt and grounded in the specificity of real lives as this movie, "Mountains" also contained wonderful performances. This film reminded me of "Slumdog Millionaire;" if only it had received the same huge release. Wonderful script and cinematography.

  4. Mobistruoso's rating of the film The Idol

It’s a very solid film , and show all the emotion of a human being .

  6. Slappy McGee's rating of the film The Idol

(3.5 stars) Well shot and nicely made biopic about a kid with a golden voice who goes on to compete on "Arab Idol." It's a VERY solid film with good acting and great direction. It all just... works. It's enjoyable and moves a good clip as well. A pretty typical formula for this type of genre film, but it serves the story pretty well. Good stuff.
