The Immoral Moment Directed by Jacques Doniol-Valcroze

  • dionysus67's rating of the film The Immoral Moment

Another intriguing and ambiguous film by Doniol-Valcroze told with composure and occasional bravura. Steeped in Sartrean existentialism against a background of WWII resistance and betrayal, it revisits these themes in the context of contemporary bourgeois dilemmas about freedom and conformity. There are meta-cinematic touches to it -coming from Resnais maybe- in what is an intelligent film with a chilling climax.
