don't let the low average rating on mubi+my own rating dissuade you from watching this movie if you're looking for a banger of a comedy. easy to watch and follow if you don't go in expecting anything more besides a few laughs :)

ok first half, dire 2nd half. all comedy and character goes out the window once the smaltzy slush fest kicks in. it really feels like some studio exec bowled up halfway thru production and went..'bring on the strings or else the movie is history" - and he probably had a fat cigar too...dats showbiz!

  6. Tyler Aikens's rating of the film The Incredible Burt Wonderstone

Proof that MUBI users will never lighten up.

  7. Ricky Robertson Jr.'s rating of the film The Incredible Burt Wonderstone

You know your movie sucks when Jay Mohr gives the funniest performance. Steve Carrell never gets a handle on his character, is unlikable, and only funny in the few instances he improvs as himself. Carrey's role is funny but relegated to one joke. The obligatory redemption at the end is so dumb you don't even feel a basic sense of joy from it. It's not painfully bad but somehow fails to be funny, almost completely.

  8. Catarina C Gomes's rating of the film The Incredible Burt Wonderstone

Had more fun when my younger sister reenacted her favourites scenes for my viewing pleasure

  9. SlinkyLi's rating of the film The Incredible Burt Wonderstone

Strictly formulaic, with painfully trite jokes that don't fit the story. Hack.

the opening, set in 1982, promises a movie that is never delivered: a bittersweet comedy about a latchkey child who falls in love with magic believing the dazzle of illusion is his only means to the affection and attention he desires. this seems to set up a premise of adults desperately seeking validation from outside sources, but skips over this juicy idea straight to burt bored and disillusioned (get it?) with life
