Ratings & Reviews

  1. Richmond Hill's rating of the film The Jewel in the Crown

A superlative sprawl that only British television at only this point in time could achieve: something languorous in development but tight on character insight, all largely untroubled by commercial dictates other than to be the best it can. Empire-bashing is kept at bay - the unfolding events provide sufficient critique on their own account - instead a densely packed sweep of human emotions in all its many hues.
