  2. josé neves's rating of the film The Kingdom of Naples

The most Italian of German films that is also the most German of Italian films. Built by hyper-realistic blocks, on which is coupled excess of baroque opera with the German expressionism, this is the film that apparently inserted in a traditional narrative, Schroeter leads to a quintessence his method of exponentiation of cinematographic materials. One of the most musically beautiful films of the last century.

  3. F.Bieberkopf's rating of the film The Kingdom of Naples

It is difficult to describe a Schroeter film, because the correspondence of the experience and text is difficult. It is a chronicle of life in postwar Italy, post-realist. The world of dream coexists with reality, tragicomic and absurd. The use of color in Schroeter's films is breathtaking and this is no exception. Fellini-esque at times, but a film that bears Schroeter's signature all over.
