2.8 stars. Most of the characters are going to be unbearably irritating if you are no longer a child, but I must admit that this held up far, far better than I was expecting - probably because my memories of the original were all muddled up with memories of the interminable sequels! There are some legitimately exciting sequences here which pepper the pedestrian plotting. Some lovely, quietly awesome backgrounds, too.
Could be a 5 or could be a 1. ["If man is five" (x3)]. I chose a 3-star rating to spare my soul yet another meltdown. Saw this film throughout my life: as a child, then as a teen & later as a grown-up. Looping and looping. Like a recurring bad dream. That's a tad insane. Dunno what to write about this. Only have memories. I know I should write them here but should I really? To write is to lose something. Sometimes.
