A sarcastic story about a thief who becomes the victim of his own victims. His victims come from the other world and take his most precious posession – his blood. The phantasmal atmosphere of the film is achieved through artificial animation colouring in a motion picture.

Barta steals a trick from Stroheim's 'Greed' through tinting the desired objects of avarice with a sickly golden luminescence. 'TLT' is, perhaps, Barta at his most bluntly moralistic and least intellectually invigorating, but it works exceptionally well on its own terms as a gothic tone poem glutted to the gills with a woozy sickness, even if it doesn't provide what I personally enjoy most about the director's work.
