Pretty far from extraordinary, more like average or subpar at best. Another bastardization of one of Alan Moore’s great, highly subversive graphic novels. if Mina Harker had been the leader of the League and Allan Quartermain had been a dope fiend as they were portrayed in the novel, this might have really cooked. As it stands you have a few failed set pieces and whatever remained of Stephen Norrington’s career.
Sean Connery as Alan Quaitermain and Peta Wilson as vampire girl Mina Harker should have been a success, but anything remotely interesting from the original Alan Moore graphic novel is gone as this is a typical example of Hollywood tampering with stuff only because it's not mainstream and 100 % accessible for everyone. The film singlehandely killed off both the director and Connery's career.
I have been very reluctant in watching this flick after all the negative reviews I have read of it so my expectations were super low which may have helped but I really don't think it was as bad as it is always made out to be. It was perfectly enjoyable and there certainly are a hell of a lot of worse productions out there that deserve the scorn far more than LEAGUE.
