Cynical little short about "making it" in Hollywood, this US-Russian experimental pic has an interesting art-decco style, reminiscent of German silents, but with a more humorous tone (the 'actors' in the story flap their mouths like guppy fish when performing). The final scene in heaven is a beautiful piece of miniature modeling.
Wonderful silent short. Guy Madden does a fantastic homage to the genre, surely in part inspired by this film, in his short called "Heart of the World" (a six minute short produced for the 2000 Toronto Film Festival). You can watch the latter on YouTube. I love the pacing and the visual style of both films.
