If you know Yamada then you'll know what you'll get with The Little House. Enjoyed the grandson taking grandmother to task on her rose-tinted view of the past. Almost as if Yamada was acknowledging his own detractors.
Some nice cinematography shines through in a few scattered places but ultimately the actors failed to register with me emotionally - something that Shochiku had proven to be capable of in the past.
