It is fantastic how much can be done when you are writing over two days and is dead drunk. It is a fun dark comedy and seeing Jack Nicholson in a tiny bit role as an annoying man in a dentist chair is priceless. It do have a pretty sick ending that only Roger Corman could have come up with too. The film is also short enough and don't overstay it's welcome. The leading actor is charmless though.
Résultat : on s'amuse !
Akin to a screwball comedy in its fast-paced dialogue and farcical humor... however, despite the swift pacing, Corman's roll the eye's, Leave It to Beaver-style jokes are forced and moronic. They are often based around sarcasm or the naivety of its main character, yet it often never quite balances comedy with naturalism or grounds its absurdism. Great ideas at the center though that was ripe for a remake.
Really fun comedy/"horror" movie! I had great time watching this even if its not technically well done in terms of special effects, acting, cinematography, etc... Just seeing a young Jack Nicholson playing a crazy dentist patient is worth the time.
