9/10. A haunting fairy tale from East Berlin, impeccably reconstructing DDR artists' homes and Stasi men's workplaces for posterity. Took a while to get me emotionally; then, very moving in the denouement. A reminder of how poorly social status, in any time or place, reflects human greatness and integrity. The performances by Mühe—who, unsettlingly, died a year later—and Tukur are phenomenal. Essential viewing.
