Ratings & Reviews

  1. Wee Hunk's rating of the film The Magdalene Sisters

The problem with melodrama is that you manipulate things so that the film will have a bigger emotional impact. What the hell is wrong with letting people make up their own minds? Yes, the Catholic Church perpetrates evil on a mind boggling scale. When you make a melodrama you are treating people like sheep. Which is of course ironic in the way people obey the dictates of the Church in the first place.

  5. FISCHER's rating of the film The Magdalene Sisters

  17. Superfrog's rating of the film The Magdalene Sisters

tells the story, does not manage much on top of that. not bad, and it is a good story, but at not trying enough to make somethig memorable out of it.

  18. raggiodisole's rating of the film The Magdalene Sisters

The story is a shocker, but its not the only tale of abuse that went on for far too long. As a film, however, it felt formulaic and a bit flat

  19. Ayesha Casely-Hayford's rating of the film The Magdalene Sisters

One of those films that leaves an imprint on the mind. Fantastic strong scenes. Stories that need to be told and shared throughout the world. Essential viewing.

  20. SiIencio's rating of the film The Magdalene Sisters

Mono-dimensional. A film happily content with just scratching the surface and relying heavily on the fact that it is based on a true story and plenty of controversial detail. But as a historic account it feels far too melodramatic and hollywoodian. Poor character development- a particular central character deserves something more than just walking their luscious lips throughout the film.

  21. Babak Jani's rating of the film The Magdalene Sisters

Shocking story! Well produced and really good acting. Got emotional!

  22. Ruth Gilbert's rating of the film The Magdalene Sisters

  23. Théo's rating of the film The Magdalene Sisters

Poignant.

  24. Benjamin Bello's rating of the film The Magdalene Sisters

Ahurissant
