A slender Brit comedy fashioned very convincingly by Mackendrick. The Scot locales and the Black and White camera work were worth recommendation as well. It bookends nicely with Whisky Galore.
This is actually a 3.5 Star movie but because it's MacKendrick I give it another half. Charming and predictable little toy. I'm still wondering if he lifted the story consciously from the Archers' "I Know Where I'm Going" of 9 years earlier.
One of the lesser Ealing comedies, but a sedate, humorous and poignant story nevertheless.
Mo, moi, moi curriña... (lembranzas de infancia, vin esta película ós 13 anos e tiñalle moito querer)
