  1. dschank's rating of the film The Mark of Cain

a fascinating descent into the social stratas of russian prison life, with unembellished prisoner commentary along the way. equal parts history and art history - expect antecdotes about communism and long shots of adorned bodies. i'm not sure which compelled me more... the complex hierarchies or the beautifully abject art processes?

  3. Paul Cutts's rating of the film The Mark of Cain

Completely lacking in insight. I would have got more art out of a wikipedia page.

  4. J. O.'s rating of the film The Mark of Cain

A brutally honest look at some of Russia's most hardened criminals and the institutions in which they dwell. More importantly, this film explores the past importance of prison tattooing and its relevance today. Chilling footage from inside the prison leaves me wondering how this was ever made.
