This is a film based on an interesting novel. Burton has lovely lines to deliver and he delivers them with gusto. But this film belongs to Lino Ventura (though his voice is dubbed) and the enigmatic, lovely Lee Remick. The British supporting cast are very good too.
A quite riveting story that is unfortunately hampered by so-so direction. Burton is magnetic and menacing and leaves a strong impression despite a very limited screen time. Remick is quite good as Dr Zonfeld but never really comes into her own. The production work is decent but never showy which is a good thing.
