Ratings & Reviews

  1. DVC's rating of the film The Monastery: Mr. Vig and the Nun

Very interesting documentary on very peculiar project and people, such as Mr. Vig and Ambrosiya. Worth watching it

  2. Kats Hattori's rating of the film The Monastery: Mr. Vig and the Nun

I liked this documentary very much. Quite unexpected ending. Most of all, Mr. Vig had such a strong character.

  3. Matt Bowden's rating of the film The Monastery: Mr. Vig and the Nun

This is a tender, patient, and beautifully slow exploration of one man - Mr Vig - and his mind. We're gradually shown glimpses of character, little hints of what is happening beneath Vig's extensive collection of hats. In the process the film touches upon profoundly human issues, like loneliness, old age and, our deep, almost subconscious, longing for social contact. Documentary work at its very best.

  4. Jean Lui's rating of the film The Monastery: Mr. Vig and the Nun

  5. syzygos's rating of the film The Monastery: Mr. Vig and the Nun

All this comes across as rather otherworldly, and yet there is a tenderness, a poetry in this documentary which is much to be admired. I enjoyed it.

  6. Carambotti's rating of the film The Monastery: Mr. Vig and the Nun
