Our take

Before Jean-Jacques Beineix turned the cinematic up a notch with Betty Blue and after he made his mega-hit debut Diva, he directed this underrated and sublimely moody adaptation of American crime writer extraordinaire David Goodis, a delirious and audacious neo-noir.
