Refreshing to leave Egypt for China and favorite fighter babe Michelle Yeoh is a nice new addition for this film. It is the first film that actually gives the action more time to breathe so it is then sad that the script is the worst of the trilogy and Maria Bello is a major disappointment replacing Weisz as she never looks or sounds like the original character. Better to go to a museum and watch a real mummy.
While there was no way a journeyman director like Rob Cohen was ever going to summon the Hollywood classicism of a true believer like Stephen Sommers, "Dragon Emperor" is better than it has any right to be. The action setpieces come fast and plentiful, Mario Bello is a perfectly suitable replacement as Evelyn, and it'd be difficult for me to outright hate any movie with martial arts-practicing abominable snowmen.
