This would likely have had you slack jawed and opened eyed when it came out. Flash forward to today where we're desensitized to a majority of its shock value and you have a film thats interesting, but not as memorable. The wild life footage still holds up though.
A tame exploitation film that tries to be philosophical. Lacks any expressive force whatsoever. Periodically some good use of the widescreen image, but the editing is inane. And this needed some dynamism. At the end, it lacks what it was trying to be all about: the violent dynamism of life as a sport of killing. The earthly Forbidden Planet of lifeless cinema.
More than a cat and mouse chase, THE NAKED PREY tells the story of an expulsion. Cornel Wilde, like a boil, is vomited by a country that literally tries to murder him. Snakes, fruits, insects, wildcats and natives are its arms. One of the best discoveries I made last year. Instantaneous cult movie.
