Ratings & Reviews

  1. Zach Closs's rating of the film The Necessities of Life

Well-shot, but inconsistent characters, needlessly monotonous pacing and a frustratingly distant aesthetic ultimately make it a chore.

  2. J. O.'s rating of the film The Necessities of Life

Every Canadian should watch this. It is a touching attempt at exposing and understanding the importance of family and spirituality to aboriginal Canadians, as well as the (often) cold and impatient ways of their colonial counterparts. Beautifully shot, with heartbreaking performances, this film is honest and hopeful.
