Scattered: Nazi crimes, murder, operation Valkyrie & romance. Instead of unmasking the absurdity that murder in mass killings is an accepted practice in war, contrary to murder as an individual act, the movie gets lost. No thrill, no suspense at all because the identity of the killer becomes very obvious plotwise & the picture weakenes constantly by an underachieving acting of Mr. O'Toole. Wasted potential. Boring.
My favorite all time movie. I've watched it more than ten times and it gets better with each viewing. Each sub-plot in the film is carried superbly, Major Grau has got to be one of the best characters ever depicted on film and General Tanz, well... let's just say that O'Toole staring at Van Gogh's self portrait is priceless. Great score by Maurice Jarre and polished locations, larger than life.
