The original Spanish version is an excellent drama. For a 70's Franco film, it's remarkably well-made. Beautiful shots of Madeira, a lovely jazz score, and a powerful and chilling ending. Emma Cohen gives a fantastic performance. Avoid the French/Italian versions, they were re-edited by the French producer as p*rn films for no good reason.
One cazily prolific director specialised in euro-horror and sexploitation cinema. However some of his films are worth mentionning and are now cult (especially the ones produced by Harry Alan Towers). The obscene mirror is one average film in the genre. Obsessional soft-porn sequences, slowly atmospheric weirdness, tropical jazzy club….Franco’s trademark
