First of all, this was so white lol. One full star for Clémence's pretty face, as her character wasn't nearly as cringy as it could've been, given certain moments of the film, specially the final ones. Fun to watch the twist of the obvious/not so obvious plot twist, kept me on edge even though it could've been left out for credibility points. The cinematography was quite delicate, but other than that, cliché-ish.
The lack of subtlety in various moments - even the complete (if almost unnecessary) explication of the final twist - made it feel a bit like a guilty pleasure, but I don't care... it grabbed my attention from the first to the last second. Clémence Poésy led the film in a cool way and the supporting cast did a fine job as well. Some exquisite moments in terms of cinematography too.
A prime slice of euro thriller with fine performances and pretty good direction. The story might not be that original or brings that many surprises, it still keeps things interesting and builds a solid feel of dread and suspense. The spirit of Chabrol, Hitchcock, Haneke and Polanski looms heavy over the whole thing, but that is not a bad thing in my mind. A worthy effort!
