Our take

Picking up where Shame and Hour of the Wolf left off, Bergman’s The Passion of Anna returns to familiar themes on the island of Fårö. Shot in color by Sven Nykvist, this apocalyptic drama is staged boldly, incorporating documentary-style interviews with its tormented quartet of Bergman regulars.
