Olivier Assayas chose this film to be screened with his own retrospective, so I got to see it on 35mm w/ his live intro. My 1st time seeing Blain's work as director, & I'm always wary of labels like Bressonian/Dreyeresque... But, while his influences are evident, so is his integrity; he made their lessons very much his own. That alone is worth a watch. Formally effective; emotionally honest. 8-track shade is perfect.
