  1. Jimmi HRS's rating of the film The Rape of Europa

The incalculable loss of invaluable art and buildings has left a scar on Europe that will never be forgotten. Fortunately the tireless work of many to preserve and protect the ones left ensures we still have something left to show future generations. This documentary seeks not only to inform us of one of the greatest losses of WWII, but to mourn the loss of one of the few things that separates us from animals... art.

  2. http://letterboxd.com/James_'s rating of the film The Rape of Europa

pretty unremarkable doc; lightly recommended, if the topic moderately interests; if very interested, probably better off reading the book and skipping the doc

  3. mpho3's rating of the film The Rape of Europa

How did Hitler's art school rejection influence the shape of the war? Lynn Nicholas, the author of the book from which the doc takes its name, is quoted in Stanford Magazine as saying “These days, for many, the war has been boiled down to Normandy and Pearl Harbor but this film puts the entire history in context and humanizes it by giving it a personal face. It’s about much more than the fate of artwork.”

  4. Vanessa Caswell's rating of the film The Rape of Europa

mesmerizing, astonishing, and highly emotional documentry about Adolf Hitler’s systematic campaign to steal / destroy Europe’s great works of art. Lots of chilling images and footage, one being The Louvre Museum evacuation... Highly recommend
