It relies solely on clichés and repetitions from the first one, not many explanations are done, a lot of things don't make sense, but it's not completely tasteless. It bored me halfway, though. Oh well, I just watched it to cross it off the list.
It's interesting how they tried to delve deeper into Samara's origin. But when it was finally revealed, it's not interesting at all. The prologue scene felt so random and forced. Samara, the mysterious force in the first movie, became rather laughable here and only turned up to provide cheap jump scares. At least Naomi Watts, with her fabulous last line to Samara, makes this movie more bearable.
