Quite the talent, but it's a shame Leighton Meester keeps crashing into these bad movie decisions. There's no chance even a good actor can make this film better. I feel like I'm wasting time even writing this. "The Roommate" fails in so many levels. But you know what's odd? How its director opted to have two sets of characters that look-alike (Leighton with Minka, and Cam Gigandet with Matt Lanter).
An awful film that is even worse due to the fact that it so infused with brainless and moronic bimbos and schmucks from the MTV generation that this is more painful to watch than American Pie Parts 4-9. Apart from the fact that the story is dull, boring and as predictable as this review, I found it incredibly insulting and derogatory how mentally ill people are portrayed in this film.
Bland, soulless teen horror flick finds a college freshman living in the most luxurious dorm in history discovering that her roommate is a psychotic stalker who will do ANYTHING to be her best friend in the world. Unimaginative and often quite silly, THE ROOMMATE is basically everything that is wrong with modern mainstream filmmaking rolled up into one predictable, reheated package.
