  1. $ROBINROSA$'s rating of the film The Seashell and the Clergyman

Pouring libido, broken vessels, prohibition, masturbation, repetition, the effects of antidepressants.

  2. FISCHER's rating of the film The Seashell and the Clergyman

Now I realize where Harry Potter adapted the visualization one of their horcrux. Find it out yourself By the way, this movie is not comparable to Un Chien Andalou, even they equally great. All I say, they lead to different path.

  8. rian's rating of the film The Seashell and the Clergyman

late silent era has produced many cinematic gems, this is one of them

  9. João Eça's rating of the film The Seashell and the Clergyman

Epstein's forms are not so self-evident, and Buñuel or Dali's are much more profound or horrifying. Despite its audacity, this film somehow fails from connecting its ideas to life and reality. Great part of it is made of mere abstract associations and weird time manipulations whose meaning is vague and ludic. The weak sense of humour doesn't help. Still an interesting film to study with fascinating shot overlapping.

  10. VincentVendetta's rating of the film The Seashell and the Clergyman

Proof that making a surrealist film is not the easiest feat in the world. While it has very interesting cinematic ideas at the start, they fail to lift the film above simple clichés with some lackluster execution.

  11. Henrique Verkündigung's rating of the film The Seashell and the Clergyman

'"The film is so cryptic as to be almost meaningless. If there is a meaning, it is doubtless objectionable." this is so right. I loved the expressions of the actors, the close-ups, the surrealistic mark of Dulac.
