Distressing in conceit; just the subject matter would get most running to the exits. As unsettling as the gloomy approach is, The Seasoning House isn't exploitative. It's masterfully directed, emotional, and the first 2/3 is quite singular. It may fizzle in the final act when the revenge slips into cliches, and the drama isn't as intense. Yet, it's admittedly cathartic seeing these evil male characters die.
