Watching this at home reveals what happens when you remove the 3D aspect from a movie that has been built around it: the whole house of cards collapses. Takashi Shimizu is an interesting filmmaker when he's allowed to stretch his wings outside the "Grudge" franchise, but here it's as though someone handed him a 3D camera, a couple hundred bucks, some clueless actors, and shouted "Make a PG-rated scary movie!"
