Ratings & Reviews

  1. Stefano De Putti's rating of the film The Similars

  2. VENIMOS LOS JODIMOS Y NOS FUIMOS's rating of the film The Similars

  3. Wee Hunk's rating of the film The Similars

It would have been a good Twilight Zone episode, but not a movie.

  4. Eddie Rinctoya's rating of the film The Similars

  5. Matt Richards's rating of the film The Similars

A lot of directorial confidence and prowess here and some wonderfully bonkers early scenes. It doesn't hold up for a feature length film however and would have been far stronger as a short. 2.5 stars

  6. Henri de Corinth's rating of the film The Similars

Body Snatchers in Tlatelolco 1968. See also: the Twilight Zone episode "It's a Good Life" and Ionesco's Rhinoceros.

  7. MATTEO BITTANTI's rating of the film The Similars

I hadn't seen anything so demented since Nacho Vigalondo's Timecrimes. This is Twilight Zone meets Chris Cunningham's Windowicker with a dash of Ionesco and Invasion of the Body Snatchers (the 1978 remake, that is). But the homages and references (including Ezban's follow up, El Incidente) are just smoke and mirrors for the film's highly political message. Excellent.

  8. Atzin Ortiz González's rating of the film The Similars

Points to Ezban for creating something rare in contemporary mexican cinema. His aesthetics channeling B-series, vintage sci-fi are a delight. But its uneven shift of tone throughout makes it a mixed bad.
