A sequence of sacred gestures, the unfolding of a story of a Son, and the question to forgive "without why".

  5. Sean Patrick Stevens's rating of the film The Son

I wasn't really emotionally engaged but the situation was intriguing and felt the ultra realism/minimlism did create a suspenseful atmosphere.

  16. Silvoieski's rating of the film The Son

A really strong story, in this this film morality and human values are questioned. The story is build in the relationship between a lonely and divorced carpentry teacher (who works in a rehabilitation center to juvenile delinquents) and his new student, who is the killer of his only son. Dardenne Brothers are the masters of social realism.

that look in the end (like in "rosetta") is pure hope for vulnerable and damaged humanity

Any rock processed in the Dardenne factory both keeps its roughness and shines like a diamond. Art house cinema the way it's supposed to be: without the pretentions, full of story and reality.

  23. xrystyna's rating of the film The Son

a truly powerful thriller. and yet very subtle. cinematography makes you dizzy, sick and anxious

  24. sicagabri's rating of the film The Son

Big use of the camera then suspense at maximum!I couldn't help thinking what was passing in Olivier's mind,if he was just wanting to know better his son's murderer, and what he would do with him.A confusing relation between a father and a boy unknown, initially, that are approached by a trade. What could he do with this boy when he find out the real person that is this apprentice? There is no place for rules there.
