Ratings & Reviews

  1. Samuel T.'s rating of the film The Stone Cross

An entire nowhere's suffering for one family's migration that will never be. What about that Ivan Mykolaichuk?! What an actor. Dead at 46? I wish I could dance with him right now, such a flame. This moves from chamber to outdoor social rotunda, flanked by a vast consuming landscape. Joy and sorrow will only be felt within this void of brutal nature and repression, and won't escape.

  2. Stephane Tanaka's rating of the film The Stone Cross

Cold and austere, different from fantasy oneiric Ukrainian Poetic Cinema of the time, but still beautiful though

  3. yodh's rating of the film The Stone Cross

there was a time when emigration was akin to death, the departed ones were living dead, relocation meant descending into the underworld and requiems were sung to those going away. it was like being buried alive and it was only a century ago.
