A tv movie - it seems that for some time, let's say in the 60s and 70s, tv allowed itself to be penetrated by a formal requirement specifically cinematographic, with a perfect harmony between the narrative times and the ways that defied it - and the viewer was more clever. From a fantastic tale, nearly a Poe reading, a little great visual and sound essay that is, to date, the only film of this filmmaker that i like.
i could imagine this story the film based on could be pretty interesting. unfortunately, zulawski in this early work doesn´t manage to express inner (something he magnificently did in "the third part of the night") but the film carries a certain grotesque that i liked. and additional star for some of the darkest and deepest eyes i've ever seen <3
Pieśń triumfującej miłości is the second short film of Żuławski. The exact same theme (not necessarily the story) as well as the aesthetics of the previous short film. This time more supernatural. Both films provide clues and hints of later great work that this director will accomplish. Not so much in the style that he will develop, but primarily through the topics / themes which he will deal with in the future.
