John Kennedy wants to prevent Abraham Lincoln's assassination. Yes. Interesting Anthony Mann movie of the early 50's. At times, one could swear it's a Film Noir because Dick Powell looks more 1940 than 1860. It also reminded me of Alfred Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes. A curiosity.
Unfortunately dull, especially by Mann's standards. The unimposing Dick Powell is a strange choice for the gumshoe lead, but the film's biggest problem is its clumsy handling of action and suspense, particularly strange coming after Mann's many gloriously gritty B-movies and the beginning of his masterful Western cycle with Jimmy Stewart.
