If you've ever thought, "I like singing cowboy pictures, but I wish everyone wasn't so tall," then Sam Newfield's THE TERROR OF TINY TOWN (1938) is for you. Hailed(?) as the "only musical Western with an all-midget cast," TINY stars members of the Singer's Midgets troupe, many of whom would appear as Munchkins a year later. The only thing good about this movie is it's a short 59 minutes. (9/23/11 Amazon on Demand)
What should be just another unwatchable B-movie western with a near-incomprehensible plot and grade-Z production values is made strangely compelling by the simple fact that the cast is all midgets. Their abysmal performances and songs aside, the little people add a surreal edge to the otherwise banal proceedings. A cult oddity that's really just a curiosity more than anything else.
