Ratings & Reviews

  1. João R's rating of the film The Town That Dreaded Sundown

It kept being entertaining, mostly due to the agility of the camera and to the nightmarish visual composition. As for the rest, besides not bringing anything new, the reveal doesn't excite and the conclusion is very rushed.

  2. itstheresomewhere's rating of the film The Town That Dreaded Sundown

    unwatchable with those camera angles

  3. InsertOzuReferencehere's rating of the film The Town That Dreaded Sundown

It's amazing how paradoxical filmmaking can be - conceptually this is a savvy slasher, but in method it's a complete mess. The age old problem of being able to recognise good art, but not being able to produce it. The cinematography is the only thing stopping this from being 1 star.

  4. Graham Ball's rating of the film The Town That Dreaded Sundown

Trashy, trash, trash... from the very beginning it was blatantly obvious that this film wanted to emulate 'Zodiac', but failed! Every slasher flick cliché was deployed (not to too much effect), making it seem like someone had dragged 'Friday 13th Pt3' forward from the 80s and sprayed it with a digital sheen. Not very good.

  5. Mathias Palmberg's rating of the film The Town That Dreaded Sundown

The story isn't half bad and the premise with its metafilm sensibilities is quite cool. Considering this it's a shame that the movie is not very good. Sure it kept my interest during its brief running time but there are too many missteps on basically every level on display. The lead actress however was pretty good. What should have been dark and kitchen sink gritty becomes more like a pedestrian TV-movie.
