Starts off a bit rickety and even though it's not hard to figure out the murderer, this has some wonderful atmosphere. The cast is great (yes even the child actor) and seem to have chemistry with each other. Cinematography starts off a bit shaky, and tbh in the end is only serviceable.
***1/2. The only film of Francesco Mazzei he wrote and directed in 1972. Between thriller, mystery and giallo, 'L'arma, l'ora, il movente' is a good surprise for the amateur of European B movies of the early 70's. Mazzei makes the most possible of the filming location, a convent and comes up with a few bawdy scenes Buñuel wouldn't have disavowed. A DVD zone obscure gialli.
