Uneven portmanteau with the ravishing Silvana Mangano as the common thread in the five shorts. Undoubtedly, Pasolini is the winner here with a delighful and colourfuly tragicomic trio (Mangano with Toto and Davoli). Visconti's episode has class but is spineless and De Sica's critique on gender roles mainly interesting for Clint Eastwood's involvment. Bolognini and Rossi, too short and not as satirical as intended.
This collection of film études I'd grade... Visconti's piece - boring and derivative. Bolognini's piece - short, but nice and sharp. Pasolini's piece - superb, top quality stuff. De Sica's piece - short, focused, insightful. Rossi's piece - not too bad, pushing over the edge in a way. Aaah and there's Clint Eastwood starring in the last piece :)
